Aoi Hana 3 - Sighing galore

This is my serious outing face.
This episode took quite an unexpected turn. Well no, it was to be expected to a certain extent, but it was way too soon, more like… wow, that was fast…
You know what I am talking about - the last scene. It just happened waaaay too fast. Sugimoto sure likes to take the lead: she swayed Fumi throughout this entire episode. She recognized that Fumi is an “easy” girl (because she is still emotionally troubled by her cousin’s marriage), and immediately aimed for her. I suppose she likes to manipulate people around; her nickname “the Mistress of the Library” hints toward this fact. The teacher who created that myth himself probably had an adventure with Sugimoto in the past too (judging from his reaction in the teacher’s office). So at least we can be assured that we have one bisexual girl in here.
Nevertheless, she kissed -my- Fumi. I will never forgive her.
Akira seems to be more interested in Fumi too, although I wonder. She must have felt last time she slept over at Fumi’s that she was emotionally unstable, and Sugimoto bluntly courting Fumi like that either makes her feel jealous, or overly protective. Logically, it would be the latter, but I think Akira is now developing feelings for Fumi too. I would not be uninterested in seeing Akira fight for Fumi in the next episodes. “Fumi! She is brainwashing you! She is not the right one for you; but I am! I love you!!” …or so. Well, in the meantime, she’ll have to fend off her siscon brother. Sure is stalking around here! I find this a welcome humorous distraction from the usual platonic girls love plot. [1]
But it’s not only her brother who’s targeting her; Ikumi appears to be liking her too. Then again, it is as she says, she is desperate because someone (Sugimoto) dumped her. But Akira wouldn’t know it is a girl, because not only does Ikumi specify the gender of her beloved one, but also tells Akira that she has a fiancé. I’m sure she will ride on this wave of misunderstanding until Ikumi confesses to her, which I can imagine will come across as a shock to Akira.
I do pity Ikumi’s fiancé though. He cares about her so much, yet he receives nothing back. He knows that she swings the other way, and is not interested one bit about him. You can’t force someone to love you, but if you know that you are losing to someone from the opposite sex… Must be a mortifying feeling. [2] Sigh.
Sigh. Sigh. Sigh.
Seriously, what is with all of this sighing? First it’s Fumi, then it’s her mother, then it’s Fumi again… I lost count in this episode. Are there any other ways to express fatigue or distress? I know my friend muz (whom I went to Venice with in June 2008) sighed a lot, but I tend to believe that it is a sickness or exception right? I think this effect is now being a little overused in anime these days.
Interesting detail: Fumi’s hair. Ponytail doesn’t really suit her imo, although… well, perhaps it does. Ohh yes it does. And her neguse (bed hair) which she didn’t even manage to fix after her date with Sugimoto… cute. Just cute. Just… ;____;
I am teh Fumi fanboy.
